The Louisville Zoo has seen the light!

We had complaints from some of our members about illegal signage at the Louisville zoo which prohibited concealed carry at the zoo.

KC3's attorney wrote them a letter.
The signs are GONE!

If you know of any other illegal signs then we'd like to know about them, and get pictures of them if we can. We have several that we're working on now, as well as some illegal ordinances in Pikeville and it takes time to get to all of them. But we're not going to stop!

Great news. The Louisville Free Public Library however still has no-CCDW signage posted at all their branches. Got to get this changed as well.

the zoo still has a no gun policy listed in the rules page of their website...and "all police officers are required to check in at the office" before entering the zoo

We're working on the rules page on the website. Isn't it a shame they just won't obey the law?

Robert, sadly, the LFPL is an agency of Metro Government, and the buildings are owned/leased by Metro Government, making the no-CCDW signs on the buildings legal.
Remember that carrying a firearm openly, a Constitutional right in Kentucky, is not against the law.
Doesn't it boggle the mind that their irrational fear of guns forces us to wear those "evil" guns in the open, and thus "scare whitey" even more?

Re: GBW's comments - does KC3 support open carry, or are they all about concealed carry?

I don't see any evidence that they support the practice.

Hi Jeff. Personally, I carry openly more often than I carry concealed. The major reason for that is no concealed carry signs, many of them illegally posted.

KC3 supports not only carrying concealed, but also supports carrying a weapon openly.

I'm not sure where you're coming from. If you're referring to my last comment, it's just a bit of sarcasm at the hoplophobes' expense.
thx

AS of 3/2012 when I looked at http://www.louisvillezoo.org/info/rules.htm no longer references weapons of any sort.
